The EPC2607™ channel bonded cable modem combines cutting edge Downstream Channel bonding technology with an Embedded Media Terminal Adapter (EMTA) to provide lightning fast download speeds in combination with a VoIP service. Click here to see our full cable modem portfolio.(pdf)

The new Compact Electronic Gain Control (EGC) Amplifier for trunk and distribution applications expands the flexibility of Scientific Atlanta's EGC amplifier family. The EGC amplifiers feature limited service interruptions for VoIP service during amplifier setup; user-selectable bandwidth of 870MHz or 1GHz; return-path bandwidth of up to 200MHz for future-friendly bandwidth expansion; remote addressability via the ROSAź Element Management System aiming at reducing truck rolls and lowering inventory by delivering user-selectable gain and slope while minimizing the number of plug ins. 1Scientific Atlanta has expanded its range of network adapters with several new products. The D9402 is a cost-effective, modular distribution IP-to-ASI network adapter, the D9435 is a user-configurable, bidirectional IP-to-ASI gateway for compressed video transport. The D9430 is a bidirectional SDI transport adapter for IP networks. The D9431and D9432 add JPEG 2000 compression to save bandwidth in contribution networks while mainitaining high quality and low delay. Two new ATM network adapters, the D9403 compact ATM adapter and D9408 modular ATM adapter, are designed to work with existing ATM network infrastructure.

Scientific Atlanta Boosts Picture Quality – Again!

Our flexible, software upgradeable FPGA/DSP architecture in the newest release of two encoders is built to provide remarkable HD and SD picture quality improvements. The latest achievements in picture quality on the MPEG-4 AVC HD Encoder D9054 have boosted video quality by more than 40 percent since we demonstrated the encoder at IBC 2006. The latest achievements are made through improved high-level and low-level rate control, dynamic and hierarchical GOP 3structures featured in optimized GOP selection algorithms, Picture AFF and better compensation of special effects (e.g. fades, flashes) through rate control, explicit weighted prediction and better scene change detection.

In the new release of the MPEG-4 AVC SD Encoder D9034we also provide highly improved picture quality, which is derived by continued focus on the implementation of more H.264 tools like Picture Adaptive Frame/Field coding. This tool can provide visible improvements in picture quality on interlaced material including fast and full picture motion like in live sport events. Other focus areas in this new s/w version have been the implementation of a more advanced scene change detection mechanism, an improved rate control at both macro block level, as well as at high level. Last but not least, the motion section of the encoder has been improved with larger search regions and a more enhanced motion compensation for more effective motion vector coding.

To address the need for cost-efficient MPEG-2 SD encoding, we introduce the Local Program MPEG-2 SD D9022Encoder as an efficient solution for headend applications in cable and IP delivery systems, and local and regional program insertion in DVB-T play-outs. The encoder is designed to provide composite interface as well as SDI and comes with 2 audio stereo pairs. It can support the most typical DVB VBI, and also aspect ratio contD9022rol as well as AFD, and has a new advanced management feature that helps enable the user to manage the D9022 via the IP streaming ports. The management traffic can be protected by the IPsec-protocol. Download the data sheet for the D9022 encoder here.

The Complete DVR Experience

Scientific Atlanta digital video recorders allow viewers to time-shift television and watch what they want when it is convenient, and can enable service providers to generate more value and revenue. The interactive 8450DVB DVR [.pdf]includes IP connectivity and takes advantage of the bandwidth maximization and video storage benefits of MPEG-4 part 10/H.264 compression for high-definition The Complete DVR Experience [.pdf]television and personal video recorder services. Additionally, three video tuners in the set-top will allow customers to record three shows simultaneously.
